Structural Expertise, Reliable Service
Steel Beam
As a recognized leader in the structural steel industry, Nucor offers customers a diverse range of wide-flange steel beams, pilings and heavy structural steel products. Our specialized domestic electric arc furnace (EAF) steel beam mills use a continuous casting method that produces a beam blank closer in shape to that of the finished beam than traditional methods.
Nucor’s two beam mills have a combined capacity exceeding 3.25 million tons per year and supply material to a range of partners, including fabricators, steel service centers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Breadth of Products
Nucor produces the largest range of steel beams and structural steel products in the Western Hemisphere, all melted and manufactured in the United States.

Sustainability
Our circular, recycling-based EAF steelmaking process produces a fraction of the embodied carbon compared to traditional methods.

Reliability
With consistent rolling schedules and ongoing customer support, Nucor provides reliable domestic steel product availability.

Aeos A913 is made using a specialized quench and self-temper (QST) process that optimizes the steel’s metallurgical grain, resulting in both higher strength and reduced weld preheat requirements compared to A992. While QST is an additional process in our mill, it occurs in-line with our normal rolling schedule, making Aeos readily available.

Also known as standard beams or S beams, I-beams are most often used in building construction, racking and material handling. The vertical web offers support to shear forces, and the horizontal flanges protect against bending. Nucor manufactures ASTM beams to meet our customers’ specific requirements.

When compared to standard beams, the “H” design of a wide flange beam (W beam or WF beam) provides better distribution of the weight of a structure over a wider area, enabling the support of larger and heavier structures, thus allowing for grander constructions.

Steel channel (C channel or structural channel) is a hot-rolled product perfect for frames and bracing, which can be produced in various sizes and web thicknesses. While it offers structural support in building construction, it is also used in automotive and heavy equipment.
Channels
This is a tooltip
This refers to channels that possess parallel flanges, allowing for easier assembly. MC channels (or miscellaneous steel channels) are used for structural support in construction and civil engineering. Lighter MC channels are often called stair stringer channels or junior channels.

Another common beam product used in various construction and industrial applications is steel in the form of a 90-degree angle, also known as an L steel angle. Nucor can manufacture multiple sizes, including large angles and steel angles with equal or unequal legs.

Steel sheet piles are long structural sections with a vertical interlocking system that creates a continuous wall to retain soil or water. While these can be used for temporary and permanent applications, temporary sheet piling is designed to provide safe access for construction and is then removed.

Steel H-pile (H-piling, HBP or HP) is designed to provide deep foundational support for heavy construction structures. Nucor’s H-pile features a uniform flange and web thickness for excellent weight distribution and load-bearing capacity in dense soils or rock and has been successfully tested to more than 1,000 tons.

Wide-sheet piling is also called Z-piling (NZ sheet pile or PZ sheet pile) because the single piles are shaped roughly like a horizontally stretched Z. The interlocks are located as far away from the neutral axis as possible to ensure sound shear transmission and increase the strength-to-weight ratio. Z piles are the most common type of sheet pile in North America and can be used in a wide variety of applications.

Flat web sheet piles form into circles and arcs to create gravity cells held together through the tensile strength of the interlock. The PS sheet pile sections can be manufactured to large diameters and heights and can withstand a substantial amount of pressure.

Signature Product

Nucor’s Aeos™ A913 high-strength structural steel is made using a specialized quench and self-temper (QST) process that optimizes the steel’s metallurgical grain. This results in higher strength, lower tonnage and reduced weld preheat requirements compared to A992. While QST is an additional process in our mill, it occurs in line with our normal rolling schedule, making Aeos readily available.
Aeos is one of the lowest-embodied carbon steels of its kind, made with more than 95% recycled content using our circular electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking process. Nucor is the only North American producer of Aeos A913 steel wide-flange sections, available in grades 50, 65, 70 and 80.
