Nucor Technical Academy
Jumpstart your career while getting paid to earn a degree
The Nucor Technical Academy offers a unique opportunity for recent high school graduates to jumpstart a hands-on career in the steel industry, while getting paid to learn. Program participants receive a full tuition scholarship and earn a paycheck as they complete a combination of classroom instruction and real-world training at a sponsoring Nucor division. Students will graduate with an associate degree in Electrical Technology with zero college debt.
This training program serves as a launchpad into a stable, high-growth career at one of the most innovative manufacturing companies in the country.

Nucor Technical Academy
The Nucor Technical Academy is built for hands-on learners ready to launch into an impactful career in electrical technology without college debt. This two-year paid program offers a full scholarship, real-world training, housing and a direct path to a full-time role at Nucor.

About the Program
Nucor Technical Academy is a full-time, two-year program that combines paid hands-on training with college coursework to help you build a successful career in manufacturing. Participants earn an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Electrical Technology from Shelton State Community College while training at a Nucor division
What’s included:
- Hourly pay increases with academic and work performance
- Paid on-the-job training at a Nucor mill
- A full scholarship covering tuition and textbooks
- Paid housing in Tuscaloosa, AL
- Travel reimbursement for school-related travel and holiday breaks
You’ll train and study full-time, working closely with experienced mentors while learning how to safely and effectively contribute to Nucor’s steelmaking process.
