Nucor also produces high-quality direct reduced iron (DRI), a key raw material for Nucor’s steelmaking operations. Nucor DRI operations ensure both quality and access to this important steelmaking input.

The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nucor and an industry leader in scrap metal brokerage, ferrous and nonferrous metal recycling and transportation services. The company operates nationwide scrap recycling centers and one of the largest independent railcar fleets in North America, providing our customers with a variety of railcar services, including custom short- and long-term lease packages, along with expertise in maintaining third-party fleets, railcar inspection, railcar engineering, dismantling and the most complete parts inventory available.

Advantage Metals Recycling (AMR) operates 11 recycling facilities throughout Kansas and Missouri that buy all types of ferrous and nonferrous scrap metals, including household scrap, end-of-life vehicles and industrial scrap. AMR also operates a metals recovery facility.

Metal Recycling Services (MRS) operates four facilities in North Carolina: Gastonia, Monroe and Whiteville, with one location designated as a metals recovery facility. These recycling centers purchase all types of ferrous and nonferrous scrap metals, including household scrap, electronic scrap, vehicles and industrial scrap and are committed to being good neighbors, stewards of the environment and a great place to do business.

River Metals Recycling (RMR) operates 21 locations in Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio and West Virginia, with two locations designated for mill service. RMR buys all types of ferrous and nonferrous scrap metals at each recycling center.

Texas Port Recycling (TPR) is a leader in ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal recycling with four Texas locations: Conroe, Victoria and two in Houston. TPR purchases household scrap, end-of-life vehicles and industrial scrap, and operates the largest automobile shredder in Southeast Texas, as well as balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers and an extensive truck fleet.

Trademark Metals Recycling (TMR) is Florida’s largest ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal recycler and operates 25 locations across the Sunshine State. TMR’s recycling facilities include five automobile shredders, multiple balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers, an extensive truck fleet, landfill services and railcar dismantling. TMR also operates one Metal Recovery Plant.

Western Metals Recycling (WMR) has strategic locations across the Rocky Mountain region, including two in Colorado, three in Utah and one in Nevada. WMR offers scrap metal recycling for households and commercial accounts and operates three automobile shredders, an aluminum shredder, balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers and an extensive truck fleet.

Located in Flowood, Mississippi, General Recycling is the largest scrap metal facility in the Jackson Area, with the only auto shredder in Central Mississippi. General Recycling purchases ferrous and nonferrous materials for recycling.

Nucor’s wholly-owned subsidiary UIG specializes in the supply of industrial gases (Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon, Hydrogen, Carbon Dioxide) and related services and equipment to Nucor’s steelmaking and other sites as well as to third-party customers outside of Nucor. UIG is unique, being the only full-scope industrial gas company within the North American steel industry. With a broad footprint across North America, UIG’s growing fleet of air separation units (ASUs) are strategically located to deliver on-site production of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon ensuring reliable and cost-effective gas supply for Nucor’s facilities and other industrial partners. UIG also exports liquefied industrial gases from our larger facilities and offers expert engineering and consulting services, enabling customized solutions that optimize performance, efficiency and sustainability.
